The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has announced a 19 per cent increase in toll rates on the Samruddhi Expressway, which will come into effect starting April 1, 2025. This hike will affect commuters travelling on the expressway between Mumbai and Nagpur.

The Samruddhi Expressway, which spans 701 km, is being developed to enable travel between Mumbai and Nagpur in just eight hours. While the stretch between Nagpur and Igatpuri is already operational, the final stretch from Igatpuri to Amne is expected to open soon. Once fully operational, the expressway will reduce travel time significantly, but this convenience will come at a higher cost for vehicle owners.

As per the revised per km toll chart, Rs 2.06 will be levied on light motor vehicles, Rs 3.32 on light motor commercial vehicles, Rs 6.97 on heavy vehicles having two axles, Rs 7.60 on heavy vehicles with 3 axles, Rs 10.93 on heavy construction machinery, and Rs 13.30 on oversized vehicles with seven or more axles.

According to these revised rates, the toll for light vehicles travelling from Nagpur to Igatpuri will rise from ₹1,080 to ₹1,290. Similarly, tolls for light commercial vehicles, such as mini-buses, will increase from ₹1,745 to ₹2,075, while buses and two-axle trucks will pay ₹3,655 instead of ₹4,355. The toll for three-axle commercial vehicles will rise from ₹3,990 to ₹4,750, and for heavy construction machinery, it will increase from ₹5,740 to ₹6,830. Extra-heavy vehicles will now pay ₹8,315, up from ₹6,980.
