Ather Energy, a leading manufacturer of electric two-wheelers, has introduced its latest family scooter, the ‘Rizta,’ in a bid to broaden its product range and capture a larger market share. The starting price for pre-orders of the Rizta is set at Rs 1,09,999.

“We have put a lot of effort into making this family scooter sturdy, safe, and comfortable,” stated Tarun Mehta, the Co-Founder and CEO of Ather Energy, at the company’s recent Community Day event in Bengaluru on April 6. Mehta also mentioned that the scooter is available in five different colors with dual tones.

Ather Energy has been developing the family scooter since 2019, with a focus on affordability and market acceptance. The Rizta stands out from Ather’s other scooter models with its curvier design and larger seats to accommodate both the rider and a passenger.

In addition to the spacious seating, the company has also incorporated ample storage spaces into the design of the Rizta. Other popular family e-scooters in the market include TVS Motors’ iQube and Bajaj Chetak, which have seen significant sales figures in recent years.

Ather Energy has also introduced a range of ‘smart helmets’ under the brand name ‘Halo,’ including the lightweight ‘Halo Bit’ helmet. These helmets come equipped with various technological features such as music playback, voice-call support, and wireless charging, making them a convenient and safe accessory for riders.

Founded by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain in 2013, Ather Energy secured a substantial investment of $128 million in a series E funding round in 2022. Despite reporting losses of Rs 864 crore in FY23, the company’s operating revenue saw a significant increase to Rs 1,784 crore in the same financial year.

Hero MotoCorp, a major player in the two-wheeler industry, has expressed its confidence in Ather Energy by approving an investment of Rs 550 crore in the company in 2023. This strategic partnership is expected to further strengthen Ather’s position in the electric scooter market.
