Vistara CEO Apologizes And What is New Pilot Contract?
Vistara issued an apology on the weekend for flight delays and cancellations that occurred recently. Vinod Kannan, the CEO of the airline, expressed deep concern over the inconvenience experienced by customers due to service disruptions.
Kannan attributed the disruptions to a combination of factors that led to a cascading effect. Despite having sufficient crew for regular operations, the airline faced challenges due to operational disruptions caused by high utilization.

Acknowledging the inconvenience caused to customers, Kannan extended a sincere apology for the disruptions. He emphasized that Vistara’s management is actively addressing the issues and taking steps to enhance operational resilience.
In response to the situation, Vistara is ramping up its pilot recruitment efforts and adjusting operations to ensure better roster management. The airline has also introduced larger aircraft on specific domestic routes to accommodate more passengers. Efforts are underway to contact affected customers and provide appropriate refunds and compensation.

Kannan noted that the airline’s on-time performance has improved over the past three days, and Vistara aims to stabilize its operations by the end of April 2024. Regarding pilot contracts, he mentioned that 98% of pilots have signed the new contract, with ongoing engagement to address any concerns or queries.

Despite earlier flight cancellations due to pilot availability issues, Vistara is taking steps to stabilize its flight operations. The carrier had to cancel over 125 flights in a three-day period starting from April 1, but measures are being implemented to improve the situation and minimize disruptions.
